First, thanks to everyone for your input on small EDC suggestions. I have decided to go with Giantmouse Ace Riv. However, I cannot decide if I should go with a brass or titanium handle. I know that brass weighs a bit more but it might just come down to personal taste or if there is something else to consider given the options. Also, does the brass look better with age and usage vs. titanium for those that have experience?

On a side note, I am also considering getting the Giantmouse GMF1-F as well. I think I might be going down this slippery slope of not just having one or two knives. :D

Do you enjoy that brassy smell? I do, but generally not when the brass thing is as large as a knife handle; only on smaller stuff.

Definitely Titanium if it's going to be carried regularly. Not that you can't carry a brass handled knife. Ti is just better all around for carry.

If you are gonna give this knife to me, make it titanium.

If it's for you, get the one YOU like. Gay, straight, male, female, red, blue....the choice is yours!

If you’re just getting into knives and are looking for a competent cutting tool go with Ti. If you have a collection and are looking for something different go with brass. Ti overall is more practical and also looks great. Here’s a pic of some brass pieces that already have a patina in progress.

I will always go titanium on folders due to weight and stain resistance. However fixed blade knives must have g10 carbon or similar.

Thank you all. Titanium it is. I am just getting into knives. Much to learn.

Good choice. Titanium is strong and relatively light. It wears better than some other metals and feels good my hand.

Brass can be pretty and a patina can be cool. However, others are right about it being heavy or smelly. Getting that smell on my hands is a nuisance.

Another potential issue is that brass generally contains lead. It might not be a lot of lead but that small amount can add up in combination with other sources. Brass keys are another common source of exposure. Those of us who do shooting activities or other hobbies where lead is common might think twice about keeping slabs of brass in our pockets.

An EDC only works out if you csn carry it every day. Weight will always be an issue.

Get the Titanium handle.
