Help me decide on a leg strap for a 710 9er sheath

Ok, like the title says, I need some ideas.

So, I want to dress up my new 710 9er sheath with a leg strap/tie down but am not sure if I want leather or paracord or some other option. If I go with leather I will be hard pressed to get the leather the exact color of the dangler.

But I need you guys to help me out. If this were YOUR sheath and you wanted to put a leg strap on it, what would you do? What materials would you consider, and what attachment system would you use. I realize my threads do not generate very much traffic and discussion, yes I'm boring, but any help from my fellow Beckerheads would be most appreciated. Even a one word response would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, here is the sheath

By the way, extra appreciative THANK YOU goes out to 710 for hooking me up with some old screw sets he had laying around. JD You Rock!!!!

I know! A Hello Kitty bandana.
Or... A long, brightly colored scarf.
I'm thinking something Stephen Tyler-ish. :D

In all seriousness, what about a paracord setup like you had on your Spec Ops sheath at the Spring gathering. I thought that was pretty cool. Black or OD would work, right?

I've been thinking about a leg strap for my 2 710 danglers. I'm interested to see some ideas as well

Those are some nice sheaths. Personally, I usually just use some paracord for a leg strap, but with a sheath like that, I think you need to go bigger. I kinda like the leather idea, but agree that you'd have a hard time matching the colour (I know it'd bug me if it wasn't the same lol). How about some nylon webbing, with an adjustable buckle? You could attach it to the backside of the sheath for a cleaner look. Just spitballin' here...

I picked up some "550" bungee cord from Michael's Arts & Crafts a couple of months ago, and I think that would make a fine leg strap. I always have a problem with non-elastic leg straps - they are too tight when I'm squatting or sitting, and they always seem to drop and then get hung up when I stand back up. This stuff comes in some pretty neat patterns, and you could even go fancy and make a cobra weave or 4-strand braid leg rope with it that would stretch. Michael's 5mm bungee cord. Alternatively, you could paracord it, fancy or not, with at least a little bungee so it would give. My experience trying to make stuff match (mostly failure) says go with something complimentary, color-wise. I'm sure we all want to see what you come up with.

I've been considering the paracord weave like I have on my 2. I really like it, it was easy and it works really well. But it's not adjustable. With this one I'd like some adjustment options for the strap.

Thanks for the idea and encouraging me to think outside the box. I'm going to look a little closer into this.

Bungee, maybe a buckle to make it easy on/off with a sliding knot (or toggle) through one of the eyelets for adjustability, still keep the woven paracord idea from your 2. Can we see some pics of that?

I use a piece of elastic band about half to one inch wide, attach some snaplocks like the one on the cheststrap on backpacks.
Rides nice and snug, and flexes when you bend your leg.
Been using this setup for army duty carry for years now, never failed, and never been uncomfortable...
And yes, I do carry a 9 on my belt when on duty. Because I can, MWAHAHAHA.

Some good ideas here. Congrats on that 9 dangler. That thing is awesome. Jd's work is tremendous. Use it well.

I carry big blades at work almost every day. I have tried nylon webbing with buckles, elastic straps with buckles, shoelaces, paracord... and I stick to paracord with a cord lock, slimmed and burnt tips for ease of passing thru the cord lock. Also, with the bdu pants I thread the front cord over the front button of the cargo pocket, that way it doesn't sag below the knee (I don't keep it too tight, just snug). Anyway, experiment and see what works for you.
