Your wife is pretty smart. If you add a little "paracord" bungee into the weave (that stuff I linked to earlier), you get the benefits of elastic with the look of a nice cobra weave.

This does sound like a good idea. Benefits of para cord and elastic with a buckle for quick on and off.
