Pretty happy with the design on this camp knife. I know some will say that the handle is too long but I have big hands and its made to fit me. I just don't know what type of scales I should use. I really like wood handles but thought maybe micarta would be best for a camp knife.

What do you think?

Wood with liners would work, but on a camp use knife it is hard to beat G-10 and Micarta.....because they can take a beating.
I like brown/tan canvas Micarta on a camp knife.

I actually have some African blackwood (which is on that list) but it is super dark. Almost black. I'll see if I can find some osage.

Burlap mycarta would also look good on that. With black micarta or fiberglass pins and a matching black thong hole tube.

Micarta you make yourself is pretty cool. It's like opening a Christmas present when you do your contours. Hard rock maple is pretty tough, but I found it more difficult to sand then micarta.
