Okay guys and gals...

My previous knives include but aren't limited to:

0560 CBCF
CRK Umnumzaan Wilson combat
Kershaw Tyrade
Spyderco Sprint Para 2's
ZT 0303
Southard spyderco
Lionspy

Many others... I tell you that to explain this:
I'm at the point where I feel like "cheap" knives are a waste of my time and money. I honestly get no joy carrying around a cheap knife.. I'm not saying that you have to spend a certain amount of money but you guys know where I am coming from. I don't drink heavily (anymore) I don't blow money on bars, chicks... I buy knives.

I LOVED my umnumzaan, honestly did however now I'm starting to feel that maybe I go custom itch? I saw the bluephin and about shit myself while browsing ebay.... Is it that time I go custom? Could I fill the need by getting maybe say a ZT 0777? Watcha think?

Spyderco Southard
Sebbie
XM-18(if you are qualify for Rick's pricing)
Stider

Those would be my choices in that price range, and seems it would fit your tastes decently from your previous knives.

I'm thinking mid tech

I definitely say go custom. I totally know what you mean about losing interest in cheap knives ( NOT saying they're bad or will not do the job). I buy less frequently than when I first started but have mostly been buying customs. I'm much more satisfied that way but it depends on the person.

I'd rather go custom. If I lost this it would be much worse than if I lost my Sebenza.

I would bark up Rob Dalton's tree. His customs are right in your price range. This pair he made for me was $650 altogether.

I have two knives in that price range--Strider SnG Lego and Brian Tighe mini tighe rod. I highly recommend both. Lionsteel SR1 Ti is a nice knife as well.

I just got my 560cbcf and really love it! That said if you can get a hinderer straight from hinderer I would try and go with that. I am military and tried to get one a couple weeks ago but he was already out. I think he said to try again next week and the xm24 will be ready next year.

Awesome responses so far, I definitely like those customs!!!
Any opinions on the sinraptor warren Thomas stuff?
What material is his lock bar stabilizer/pivot bushing? Almost looks like a cutoff wheel disc lol

depends on what you need the knife for. i walk around with a case peanut most of the time because all i do is cut an apple once in a while, open a package, or cut a piece of string and that's it.
what are you using the knife for?

Its G10. I just sold a WT custom T-Rex.

Do it, you know you want to...

Also if you liked the lionspy a sr-1 might be worth a look. It's on a whole other level.

I got a ZT0777 BLK, to me it's a big step up from the 0560 CBCF(I have 2), I wish I didn't get the BLK version, currently it's to nice for me to use, lol, but I tried but didn't score a Satin blade version.

Strider SnG Lego or SmF CC, nice knifes, and lighter than most people think!!!!! I buy them used, they are user knifes for me. I had the Lego G10 replaced with Carbon fiber on my Z-wear SNG, currently my favorite blade, and Barry did a sweet job on the scale.

I have yet to jump to customs, anything over $500, it just warps my mind, I save the funds and buy a newer KTM Dirt bike(higher priority than blades, lol), 2012 KTM 300 XC Smoker is NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, then a 500 XCF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(yes, boarder line Sickness)

ZT0600, I'm on the fence, and haven't dropped funds on one yet, maybe I'll wait for the next incarnation. In the next 12-18 months, I'll look for an almost new condition ZT0777, maybe prices will drop like the ZT0560 CBCF knifes, currently I'd jump on one for $400.

What is different about the SR1's?

I would jump on one too!!! I honestly may pickup a 0777, Its really calling my name until I saw some of the Brous stuff.

I've been very satisfied with various Emersons over the years, all ~$200.
I've had a really sour experience with them. I sent off (after numerous complaints) an Emerson cqc8 which had severe lock issues and came back on me under regular use... They sent it back weeks later with less than a red **** hair engaging the lock and it literally had to be pried released. I had to use a key/small screwdriver etc to disengage it. Called them for their thoughts and got the run around... Brought it to a custom knife maker and he made it muuuuuch better.

Xm18/24 or Smf!
Too much on the hinderer's!!! I wish my friend or someone local had one I could fondle because obviously they are worth some money for a reason however, Its tough pulling the trigger without handling one.

There was an xm18 on the exchange yesterday for $550! They seem to be going for much lower prices lately!

Thanks man! That's my one-off phin, hands down my favorite knife.

Sr-1 is a one piece, 3d machined block of ti, not separate scales like the lionspy or most other framelocks for that matter. Its also has better f&f and the overall quality is a pretty big step up.
