I am ready to purchase a gas fired forge and would like your advice. I want an atmospheric with 2 burners. I want to do general blacksmithing and some knifemaking with it.

I am looking at Forgemaster, NC Tool Whisper Momma and Chile Forge Habenaro.

Is the Forgemaster dual control feature something that would work when I am smithing small work?

I have been told the Chile Forge is very efficient on gas usage. However, I kinda of like the big front door on the other brands.

Your advice and comments are appreciated.

I built my own forge, but if i had to do it over again i would buy the Diamondback forge, i could have bought one for near what it cost me to build one..

If your focus is mainly on general blacksmithing the larger door should be of help. It may use a larger volume of fuel if used that way, and may be harder to get to needed temperature with the door open. I can't say for sure as I have no first hand experience with forges like that. ;)

I have a Chile Forge Habenero and it meets my bladesmithing needs well. The double burners with individual control are great for temperature control. The little bit of blacksmithing I've done in it has been interesting when larger radius pieces are being worked. That being said I still love my forge, and Dave at Chile Forge is really great to deal with. :D

I have narrowed it a little. I want a forge with the front door and end ports. Has anyone used the Whisper Momma or the Diamondback forges?
