I’m looking for a new fixed blade hunting knife, 4-5.5” blade length, with large handles that’ll fit my big skinny hand, and that have a thin slicey blade. I Would prefer blade thickness of .14” or less.

I’m looking at the Helle knives right now, but I was wondering if you could suggest any other manufacturers.

No survival or bushcraft knives, please. The blades are too thick and I’ve already got knives for those activities.

Thanks!

I suggest .125" thick blade of good, tough steel.

If you want a thin slicey blade, some things to look for......Forged, flat grind with a good distal taper.
This Argentinian made JU-CA for instance has a 5 1/2" blade that is .128 at the tang and tapers to .04 near the tip.

Another option if you don't mind old school is a Marttiinni Lapinleuku. They have wide thin blades that are pretty good at meat processing. This one has a 6" blade thats .095 and a nice fat birch grip.

There are smaller (and larger) versions available, but I'd look at the secondary market for an older knife as the newer ones don't seem to be as good, and the older ones have almost a convex grind instead of the modern so called "scandi grind".....
Or, you could go with a tried and proven design like the Marbles Expert if you can find a decent one.
5" blade, .135 at the thickest part of the spine, tapers to .02 towards the tip-

If you have a budget in mind, there are some great makers here that make phenomenal knives and may have (or make) something you would really like. I understand about wanting a larger grip. Best of luck with your search.

Thin and slicy, with big handle? I’d be looking at commercial kitchen knives. Maybe even shorten/reshape a chefs knife. Then have a custom sheath made.

I really like my Dexter Russel Sani-Safe knives.

That is what I was thinking as well. F dick, victorinox.

The lamb Skinner seems to be about the right size.

If you're okay with going with handmade, email me at goodknifeco@gmail.com. i have a bushcamp that should fit that size. If you're okay with slightly shorter, the Michigan Utility Knife (MUK) is a great hunting knife for medium game and smaller, IMO. Whitetail deer is oir "big game" here so it was designed with that in mind.

MUK on left, bushcamp on right. These are bith using 3/32" AEB-L steel at 62 hardness. The red micarta bushcamp is no longer available, the rest are. Prices are under $200 shipped within US, internation would depend on location.

Roselli errapukko. Big, hand-filling Arctic birch handle, tough O1 steel. The blade is about 1/8” thick, just over 4” long and 1 ¼” wide at the base. The cutting edge extends right up to the grip, no ricasso. A shallow fuller is forged along the spine. It has a curved edge, excellent for slicing and skinning, and a pointed tip with a very subtle drop-point – not much more than a flat spot -- for making the initial slit on game. I used mine on a couple of moose, no problem. Roselli knives are all function, no frills.

the basic companion is also 0.1" but 4" blade

and my fav... the classic #3 - best handle imho - and 5.3" blade still only 0.1" thick ... you'll never go back to junk
