Evidently my googlefoo is not up to par today.

I'm looking for a wip on how to do octagon kitchen knife handles.

anyone have any links or vids to watch?

The top of the Shop Talk page has the Bladeforums search engine in the stickys.
It will find you the several, tutorials on doing wa handles (they are called that normally).

A google search of "wa handle tutorial", will also give you lots of info.

I regularly post info on them, and the most important tip is to fit the front ( bolster) block tightly to the tang, and not worry much about the hole in the ,main block. A good look is adding a rear block to match the bolster ( front) block. A search for "yanagi-ba" "sashimi" and similar blade types will get several good tutorials. The Exchange has a kitchen knife section that has good photos.
