help me find some good knife steel

cant seem to find anybody locally that has any 1095, or 01 tool steel for sale. where you all get yours from? i am thinking of 3/16 x 1 1/2 inch for starters. thanks

Fastenal is pretty much nationwide and sells W1 and O1 in drill rod, but you would have to flatten it....
 
Any machine tool supply house usually has flats up to and including 6" in width. Travers Tool out of New York and Western Cutting Tool & Supply in Portland, Oregon come to mind right away. A quick search on the web should get you somewhere.
 
O1 can be found almost anywhere. Sometimes it is simply called "oil hardening tool steel." However, there are many companies that will ship to you as well, which would give you more responses and help, since not many live where you do. What exactly is your reason for buying locally? Cost, supporting the economy? You probably won't save much, if any, by purchasing it locally.
