Help me get into traditionals!

Not in a bowl, like Fes did, but I do like the look of a pile of traditionals. Pick . . . use . . . enjoy!

I have to say that like the OP, I have been bit by the "traditional" bug... Esynx and Philll came over for a hammer in a few weeks ago and shared a small bit of their collections. The weight of each knife's (not knives) character really raised my curiosity and took me back to memories I'd forgotten for some time. I guess it just has something to do with my fascination with old souls. The modifications were seamless and came off as seasoned to perfection. While some were modernized, they were elegant and sophisticated rather than pimpish and "goddy".

Philll's HI were a completely different monster, but had the same feel; just a bit more powerful and brutish, but no less precise in terms of function/form...

I'm beginning to feel like every knife I hold, I'll fall in love with it's composition... That, I think, has to deal with more of the care and craft behind the end product...

Welcome to the old side of knives my friend.

Don't ignore the Boker "Tree Brand" knives from Solingen, Germany! Similarly priced to Case knives, you get very good quality and pinned shields... excellent user knives from Boker, imo!

Someone here once said a long time ago that the biggest difference between traditional folders and modern tactical folders is that traditional folders have soul.

I'm not saying anything negative about tactical as I have many in my collection but they don't have the same warmth, sure they have flash, sure they have wow/cool factor. Even my Sebenza which has it all and probably comes closest to having soul has personality but to hold a traditional pattern, something that's survived the test of time is another thing altogether.

My pick would be the Stockman's that has also been suggested, mainly because it has a major advantage over your tactical/utility blades that I don't think can be beat, 3 blades that will allow you to sharpen 3 diffrent types of edges for different tasks in a much smaller better slicing package

That, and a good Swiss Army Knife (SAK)

I really do dig all the pictures guys. A lot of attractive models out there. Maybe if I pick up a part time job this summer I can award myself with a few acquisitions.
