1000-1400?!?!?! Please show me where ANY straight handles sell for those prices.

Maybe in 2007. These days lucky to get 600. I see you just picked one up for about 450
now, I sold one for 800, in way worse condition then this one, and I know someone with a nice collection of them for sale 12-1300 .

People are free to ask any price they like, and at 1200-1300 I have no doubt they will remain "on sale" for QUITE a while.

Asking price is not indicative of value.....

Truth.

Also...if I recall correctly, Chosen-frozen once chimed in on a post that a few smooth bolts done before the change to slotted may have been INFI, but the majority were A2, and that all slotted bolts were INFI. Can anyone confirm?

Wait, maybe he was referring to just SHBA's...

It`s a SHBA, 2nd gen (1st had a shorter handle) But it`s certainly NOT A-2.

We didn`t leave the slots on the screws until we switched to INFI. Even if you bead blast it and spray it immedialtly with oil A-2 rusts if you look at it with a tear in your eye.

Well if you can name anyone selling one for 600 let me know I would be glad to take it off there hands right this instant

$600-$800 (+/-) is a good ballpark value-wise. Obviously, there can be exceptions both high & low.

This one came with the D guard and a nice padded case...

was at most $740 to me on an ePrey auction back in early 2010. Not quite mint, but probably a 96/100 easily (a few small rub marks). These days? Probably would have been less...at least a little.

Definitely a nice example of an old school Busse. Wish someone would throw something like that in on a deal with me. That would make my decade. I definitely defer to the true HOGS when it comes to values on something like this. Us piglets have a lot to learn.

Did this sheath come with it from the factory? He said he thought it came with it when he ordered it.

Yep that sheath came from Busse.

Jason and Jaxx are right 600.00 to 800.00 for that one, probably closer to 800.00.

Nice grab.

Jason & Jaxx 27 are spot on from what I have seen.
My experience has been that it's 50/50 INFI/A2 when it comes to slotted bolt SHSHII's.
Smooth bolt almost always A2, and tube fasteners always INFI if original.
Granted there are new custom shop SHSH's with smooth bolts but the above is when referring to the older smooth black coated models.

I have the same issue as you. I think we may have the same one. Mine was purchased originally at the "Blade" show on 6-12-98. The original owner had a VIP pass and soon as it was unpacked he said he bought it

That is a beautiful Steel Heart! I have the Steel heart that was on Zknives.....without going to the website, I don't recall if it originally had smooth or slotted bolts but the original owner sent it in to be tested and it was infi. It is also about 1/2 longer than all my other Steel Heart II, and it's a FATTY but it was returned with fasteners. It passed to Cobalt then to me

Just checked.....it was slotted

Thanks Jason I enjoy it regularly :) Thanks for the info bro. That sounds like a KILLER blade

That has been my understanding as well. Regarding the SHSHII, I believe the A2 to INFI changeover is limited to the smooth handled versions (originals, not later ones from the custom shop), but I cannot say that with 100% certainty; the slotted bolt SHSHII had at least 2 other versions with either partially grooved or fully grooved handles.

Some slotted bolt SHBA's and SHMS's are A2 and some are INFI; all SHBM's are INFI.

The old straight handles are some of my favorite Busses!

I'm having difficulty remembering any infi slotted bolt SHMS. Any Pictures?
I might have some photos I saved from years ago - I will need to do some digging; back then I was looking for a slotted bolt MS but I never seemed to be in the right place/right time with the right amount of cash :grumpy:. I remember from when I was looking for one that some were A2 and some were INFI.

I did a search and found this thread:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/502396-A2-or-INFI-Which-is?p=4956559
Note especially the last post, #19, where papathud said: "I became a dealer for Busse knives early in 2000, all of the first few orders of Mean Streets were INFI and had Slotted Handle type fasteners, so the knives do exist in that particular configuration."

As far as INFI vs A2 goes, the way I look at it is with handle slabs. I believe when the transition from A2 to INFI happened and it was before tubes came in the picture. Smooth handle means that there is a higher chance that your SHII is A2, and a possibility of INFI. Partially grooved handles is the opposite. These knives are most likely INFI with a very slim chance of A2, fully grooved handles regardless of slots or not is INFI. Maybe 1/10 of 1% that it is A2. This is what I believe to be correct. So initially I look at the handle more than anything.

Slotted INFI Mean Streets??? Now that would be a nice little piece to have. Not saying the Papathud is incorrect, but I've never seen a Mean Street with slotted fasteners. Smooth or Hollow only. Sure would be a treat to have a picture of one or better yet have the actual knife.

There's one on the exchange right now... :-)
