Hi guys, A customer has asked me to fix a steak knife that he received as a wedding present from his late father. The knife is part of a set. One of the scales was destroyed in the dishwasher. I'm having trouble identifying the type of wood that was used on the handle. Any ideas?

It is cutlery plywood. Sometimes referred to as "woodcarta".

Dishwashers destroy more knife handles than people would believe.

Laminated wood/Pakkawood/Dymondwood.
It's cut sideways, to expose the laminations.
