Fast quench oils (6-9 seconds)

What I've come up with is
Houghto quench K, and
Parks 50

I had found some Parks 50, but after 10 days the company has not billed my card. Wondering what the mix up is there.

But, the question is what are the other alternatives that might fit the category of "fast" oils. And where would I look for these?

I've got some blades of 1095 and 1084, and want to ht them myself, but also want to do it correctly.

Those are the big 2. Did you call Maxim Oil or email Kelly Cupples?

They're the two main sources for Parks 50 in our quantity needs. If you did deal with Maxim, the easiest thing to clear up any confusion about billing is to simply call them.

1084 you've got some leeway with, canola oil will work just fine but if you want consist easy results, and are planning to work with 1095, W2, etc, hold out for the Parks 50.

Jumped the gun on this one, I guess...

Fed ex just dropped off my 5 gallon jug of Parks 50. Woo hoo!

I was just reading a thread by Kevin Cashen about availability of Park 50. He touched on alternative (canola, atf, etc) as a viable choice but, understandably didn't go into too much detail.

The thread was on the knife dogs forum, and it was from 2010 I believe, so not sure how relevant. Someone came up with a seller in TX that was supposed to formulate a fast quench oil, but I'm not sure what ever happened with that.

Anyone know what I'm talking about (lol) and maybe have more information?

For future reference, a number of the "house brand" 11-13 second "medium-fast" oils (as opposed to "super fast" 6-9 second oils like Parks#50 or Houghto Quench K) like Brownells Tough Quench and the stuff from McMaster-Carr or MSC, are supposedly relabeled Houghto Quench Q. That is for sure the case with Tough Quench. So unless you are quenching super shallow hardening steel like W2 or 1095, there it is.
