Help me open my beer! Gift for a friend

A little gift for a friend who had to move out of state.

It doesn't work yet as I think the metal of the opener is too thick to get under the lip of the cap.

So I think I can try to thin the metal on the opener part that catches under the bottle cap a little.

Maybe I can just enlarge the back of the opening so I've can get more of the cap through.

I'll probably do a bit of both. Come to think of it I should have probably just put this in the what's going on in your shop thread.
