I'm partial to the BGASH1, but it, along with a BGAD, was my first Busse.

Another great choice would be the BAe2. The blade is just under 5", but it feels so good in hand.

Jackmandu if you decide to go with any of the kin.

If you want a wide blade I would recommend a ASH-1 preferably the Fat ASH-1, for more narrow blades, the boss jack, HG55, Beefmandu, or the new urban grudge coming out, and for inbetween with the BATEC, infidu, and new S.O.S. coming out.

Between all those blades are a nice range of lengths from the ASH-1's, Boss jack, and Beefmandu all being in the 6" category, and then the HG55, BATEC, Urban Grudge 5" category, and the SOS, infidu being slightly smaller but still in the 4-5" category...

There is a lot of over lap between all of these blades, though. For example, the cutting edge on the BATEC and the infiudu are virtually the same but the BATAC has a longer overall length (do not remember off the top of my head but at least 1").

The same goes for the Boss jack and the HG55, the Boss jack cutting edge has at least 1" more in cutting length than the HG55 but the overall length of the two are almost the same, maybe a 1/4" difference or somewhere close (once again don't have specs memorized).

The same can be said for the ASH-1 and the SFNO, The SFNO is a 7" blade but its really only like a 1/4" longer blade from ricasso to tip when measured from the same points on the ASH-1.

Then the Beefmandu, in my opinion, is the best design between the HG55, Bossjack and the Ratmandu/infidu and jackmandu. It has the grip comfort of the RMD, the overall length of the boss jack and jackmandu, and the ruggedness of the HG55 with the thick spine, but it is also a slicer because of the deep hollow grind... But as of now the beefmandu is only available in SR-101...

I must - of course - echo Andy's choices. Adding the SJTAC in a more military style. Good luck in your choice.

ASH-1, bt-6, maybe a little longer, but a version of the team gemini. Both sr-101 and INFI will serve you well.

ended up with a Son of Badger, decided to go slightly smaller than originally wanted, ill grab a 5-7" later on.

Now on to something even smaller to round it out, thinking about a mean street ergo or active duty. the infi MSEs appear to be hard to find, im assuming no one wants to let go of them after they use them lol.

edit - found a mean street ergo in sr101 for a pretty good price, if i find one in infi ill buy that and give this battle grade to the wife to edc.

mean street ergo arrived

...pretty dull and slight rust on the edge, doesnt cut paper, more like tears it like a cheap beater knife thats never been sharpened.

hope it doesnt take me too long to get it to how it should be.

edit - looking in closer light, it isnt nearly as bad as i first though, already got the rust off, just need to strop it to get it to the desired sharpness.

i blame the rust on very high FL humidity, itll rust out anything if you dont get to it in time lol.

Why well....ASH1 of course... ;) My second vote goes to the BATAC and then the BAe in that size range :D

great advice...my first choice is the SFNO LE and followed closely by Andy's choices in the same order. Hell Razor and Sar 4 are also great choices in that size range.

Son Of Badger is a great blade, Congrats. Same with Ergo Mean Street. With those two and the ASH2 you have a great do all trio.
