Help me pick a Bark River

FOILIST,

I've sent many emails, but all are returned. If you see this, email me with a good return address. Thanks

I will second the Woodland as a good backup knife that is compact and ergonomic. I have batoned with mine quite sucessfully, cut food with it, and beat it up a little. No problems at all.

PSK, North Star and Mini North Star.

Every time I help someone pick out a knife...... I buy one. So I definitely would not buy the North Star;) :D

All three are good choices.... but I have used the North Star and loved it.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Does anyone have experience with the Scout or the OMF knife? These look to be close to what I'm looking for as well.

I can't recommend an OMF highly enough.

Just to throw you a curve ball, check out the Journeyman too! ;)

Here is a pic of a Fallkniven F1 then a Bark River North Star, Aurora, and Bravo and then a Swamp Rat Howling Rat.

Here's a pic of the Northstar in the hand. Some people say the handle is too small but I like it.

Here's the Aurora in hand. I think it's actually a little large

Bravo in the hand. It feels great

Here's the North Star handle. Like I said it has only happened to me once but the shape does lend itself to your hand going up when wet.

Here's the Bravo handle, it has a bit more contour so your hand stays in place

Then the Aurora handle which IMO has the sweetest contour to work with and hold onto

Your address. You can email me at ilbruche at gmail dot com. I'll explain everything. :D

I have the Northstar, the Aurora and the Nebula among others.

IMHO the Nebula fits my needs better than any of the others. It is the closest to the Woodlore bush craft form I have found for less than $250.00. It is also stainless which I love. It is just as tough as the A2 Bark River models without fighting the rust in the field.

I would say that I agree with you 100%, but the Aurora ended up being used on my last outing as much as the Nebula, so, I have to say I like them both equally. I do fing the Aurora handle slightly thick, but I have large hands, so its no problem, if you have small hands, the Nebula wins hands down.
EDIT: I forgot to add, I like the Gameskeeper alot! As far as I'm concerned its just as good for Bushcraft, and its a little cheaper than the Aurora and Nebula....just a second thought..the reason I prefer the Gameskeeper to the Bravo 1 is the thumb ramp...it just annoys me to have something under my thumb, I like the control I get from feeling the blade.
