help me pick a new edc

Ok so I need a new edc and need help. First my budget is $200 or less. If it's more than that I'll get a zt560. I have owned and loved a H&k nitrous blitz, benchmade rift, and spyderco military but all had things I didn't like. The H&k is getting fixed for some sort of mechanical problem that made it not open all the way. The rift lost its tip due to very light prying. The military has way too much wasted space in the handle. It could have had another 1/2" of blade in there. My favorite to carry was the H&k because the wraith was kinda fat and the military had a Ax handle.
So now you know what I kinda like and what I dont. If benchmade still made the nitrous Stryker spear point that's what I would get. I like the part but it's still got a lot of wasted space in the grip. I like that caly 3.5 but kinda think it's going to be delicate. No current Benchmade really strikes a cord with me but it you think of one call it out. I want it to be tough cause I have to cut all sorts of cap as a trucker. I want a sturdy tip that won't break. I want a strong lock. I'm not a steel snob and can sharpen very well. Oh and I know carry a Busse for when something needs done that would be abusive to a normal pocket knife. I have a few I'm considering including the para 2, zt 0566, manix xl, and maybe a be mini onslaught. Any other suggestions?

Maybe wait for the zt/emerson collaboration? Or look at some Emersons? Other than that I suggest getting something you like that is in your budget and use as designed/intended and all will be well.

Hogue knives. Right around your budget. Tough knives with a good lock and steel. I prefer the EX-01 line. Also I'd look at the DPx Hest and ZT 0550.

Honestly, no knife is intended to be used for prying so "a sturdy tip that won't break" is a tough order. Go ahead and find yourself a knife but I'd highly recommend you add a pry tool to your wish list. A full-size Leatherman might be useful to you as well.

Here's a couple of examples:
Shrade Pry Tool
TOPS Pry-Probe-Punch Tool

I do like the Hogue exam gmascus. That He's is awesome to. See this is why I asked this question here. You guys are way more up to date on blades than me. And I didn't get the standard "Para 2 or nothing".

ETA: I wasn't digging nails out with the rift. I was trying to use the edge to get under a washer that was corroded down. I'm not blaming BMW for it either. My fault. The tip was way to thin. Should have tried to hammer it off with a rock I guess. Also didn't mean to imply a unbreakable tip. Just something more robust than the rift.

Benchmade 940, Benchmade 484, Benchmade 950, Lion Steel SR-2A, Microtech Socom Delta, Paramilitary 2

Well I'm kinda leaning towards the zt0566, be triage, and maybe a lionsteel. I want to get my hands on the Hogue to.

You like good big folders? Try the Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight....3.5+ inch blade, axis type lock, lightning fast opening, and just a touch over 3 ounces. Really good steel.Great folder.

If you like the ZT, give the 0801 a try. My understanding is that they are currently available for less than what you want to spend. Wonderful knife. Quite sturdy with its .156" blade, though it is by no means a prybar. For that sort of thing, I can only recommend a Strider. They seem to be designed to be abused.

I do like big tough blades. I don't want a pry bar of a knife. Just something that does not have a incredibly weak tip. The manix 2 xl is right up my ally.

Check out an Enzo Birk 75, maybe a little smaller than you're interested in, but a fantastic blade.
