Help me pick a tanto folder (Ive been searching catologs for over 70 hrs )

I know you mentioned it was a little beyond your budget.

But I'd highly recommend the Hogue EX-01, truly amazing knife for the money.

I have a OD Green Gmascus EX-01 Tanto 3.5" and for the money it's one of the best production knives I own.

And I must say they knocked the button lock out of the park, one of the best button lock knives I've dealt with.

I would save a few extra dollars up and go with a variation of the Hogue.

Just my .02

The buget is not so important and I do like EX01. But as EX04 is coming out I am waiting fot it ,as the upswept tip is so strong and the modified wharncliff is so unique. I wrote a email to Allen Elishwitz to ask the purposes for these two kinds of tips . And the upswept 3.5' version is not available yet.

For Benchmade the omega spring is one of reasons I donot buy it .Another reason is that I donot like the design ,also they dont have a AXIS model for tanto (usually they change blade shape from drop point) ,maybe the Warn is an exception. Also almost every AXIS model has a "finger Guard" on handle , leaves less length to grip . One or half inch short on cutting length does not matters much to me ,but that on handle (grip) length does a lot.

Dont want to raise a debate ,just some thoughts and experience with Benchmade.

Anyway I am waiting for Hogue EX04 3.5' now .But any more thoughts or suggetions are always welcome .

Ka-bar Green Zobmie Tanto.

The Zombie tanto could be my favourite if it's equiped with a Tri-ad.

I do have a Kabar Dozier ,great finish and design with just minor blade play ,totally accepted for a EDC light task knife ,but not for a tanto .

Oh this is gonna give you a headache :D.........

If you can find one, go with an old Ultra Lock Recon 1, super beefy knife, IMO it's as much of a tank as a ZT knife, maybe more, and the lines are oso sexy  I've owned this same tanto version before but tried to modify it and turned out to be a disaster, just got this one ina trade

I have one, and you missed some of the other CQC7B feature highlights:

- Terrible fit and finish
- Useless chisel grind
- a street price above OP's stated limit

If you don't like it, then sell it. There are plenty of others that are after a 7B.

As for the OP, a Cold Steel Recon 1 tanto is a fine knife, with arguably the most secure lock made.

Exactly! That's it ! Perfect for me and I am lokking for it now.

Thank you !

0700 fits almost everything but its sooo odd, not only the tanto style but also the handle..

Recon is really too large---I used to carry a Military or an Endura but not now.

I looked into EX03 (the affordable EX01:D) but it still beyond budget a lot .

Thank you guys ! More suggestion , more , please !:)

The 700's handle is fantastic, imo. Fits my hand beautifully.

My suggestion would once again be ZT0700. The handle looks awkward, but it is actually very comfortable. The one big thing i can see is possibly a downside would be the very fine tip. Tanto's are usually known for thick strong tips, and this one is not that at all. It is very point tip. Overall i love my 0700, and would recommend it to anyone! I have a glove size of medium in most gloves. Here are the two way i find it to be very comfortable in hand......

Happy for you !

So how is the ergonormic? As there are so many straight lines there it looks only like a showman but not confortable at all . But ofcourse I could be wrong .

I know it doesn't look it, but the 0700 is a real comfortable knife. Not only in the hand, but also in the pocket.
