Help me pick just one knife

This thread has a lot of good suggestions. i'll offer a couple that are just off to one side a bit.

First, consider an Opinel. I gave my grandson my old No. 7 as his first knife, and he uses it hard. Of course, he likes it because it came from me, but I hope that as he ages he will come to recognize its virtues of a great edge in a classic, simple design.

A knife that I like a lot right now is the RR Improved Muskrat. A long sheepsfoot that I consider the main blade, paired with a slim clip give a lot of versatility with only two blades. It is close to 4" closed, but slim enough to ride nicely in the pocket. My youngest stepdaughter (age 25) is absolutely tickled with hers even as her older sister prefers a Kershaw flipper.

Buck 110 folder.... FORGET ABOUT IT.. They'll have it their entire lives: I've STILL got mine that I took to the country of Turkey... was there before, during, after 9/11 !! Yes, it's STILL razor sharp :)

I would do a trapperlock or copperlock for them!

Plus an edc like an alox cadet.
