Help me pick my new center-fire rifle

due to liability just about all rifles triggers suck nowadays lol, just a fact of life.

those short magnum rounds are supposed to be pretty good a bud just got IIRC a 270 WSM, i haven't had a chance to try it out yet though

imho its a bit harder to shoot a 7 mag or 300 mag vs a .30-'06, to shoot it well, some folks just cant do it lol, and the old '06 can reach out pretty well too, heck last season i used my pre-WW2 savage 99 300 savage w/a old weaver 4X and didnt feel too handicapped, that said most of the time i use a 7mag w/a 4X12X leaupold lol.

even for me a 300 mag especially the weatherby version is getting on up there as far as being unpleasent to shoot & i shoot a lotta larger rifles, a 300 mag isnt a good plinker by any means even if ya could afford to use it for that.

I guess I have a hard time with change. I never bought into the short mag craze. IMHO it was an answer to a problem that never existed...

The only true benefit in the end, was that companies sold more rifles. Which is a good thing.

A lot of people have convinced themselves that there is something magical about the short mags. There isn't..

Bullet selection and shot placement are a lot more important than a few more fps.

YMMV

i think its all about the fact a lotta folks think the short actions look better, they dont to me but i am probably in the minority,
