Help me pick out a high end knife

i also usually test all my RHC on my blades lol, i have a machine at work alone with a brinelle hardness tester. now its just time to play the waiting game till i find a dealer with what i want in stock.

so this is what i have come up with
black g10 lego
digi cam blade
s30v but maybe cpm154
3/4 grind also

I can't think of any great benefit of the 3/4 grind except it's cheaper for Strider to produce. Sure it's stouter. IMO the SmF's full flat grind is surely stout enough & still cuts very well.

Wouldn't be cheaper to produce than a FFG, starts out as the same blade, just ground differently.

I say get an SMF. When ya get that itch ya gotta scratch it. If you've never had one in your hand I think you'd be pleasantly suprised when ya get it..

I just got a SMF CC in 3v. This actually used to be your knife Ankerson if I'm not mistaken. I absolutely love it.
It's hollow ground, and has one hell of an edge on it!! One of the most pleasing knife purchases I've ever made...

I always relish in your validation on this subject, Jim :) Seriously . . .

One can really tell the difference in Strider's S30V compared to others as you said, it's really something to work with.

I did get lucky and got 2 Umnumzaan's, the last run of S30V before the change over to S35VN and it was done right, had one of them HRC tested and it came out at 59.5 HRC and both of them feel just like Strider's S30V and they really hold an edge.

I know the FFG is more than enough for my tasks i do, but 3/4 is what i want because i can have it lol. its like a car, i don't need a lot of features but i want them :)

all preference haha. now who can help me find one in stock? i want it to be waiting for me in the mailbox when i get home on vacation next week haha

-black lego, flamed ti, s30v, 3/4 grind and a digi cam or black blade :)

Alright i have an issue. i need more advice please.

so i have shopped through all in stock striders from the list of vendors on the strider site.

i have to choose,

do i want....

SMF black lego, flamed ti, cpm154 in 3/4 grind
or
SMF black lego, flames ti, s35vn in FFG

*idk if i can't wait for the one i want to be in stock :/

Just because I like solid blade coatings if I have to have a coating, and because Strider does fantastic HT'ing, I'd buy that CPM 154 unit in a heartbeat over the S35VN

I love Striders at that price range. You can get all of the regular semi Production models, (SMF, AR, SNG, PT). You'd be Lucky to find a Hinderer for that price unless you are a 1st responder emergency services personal etc. Crusader forge is in that range but there's a long wait.

Yah, I say go w/ the CPM154. If you do go that route, you better be ready for a pocket full of knife. The lego version is a beast and after having had both, I'm a CC guy all the way now.. It carries wayyyyy easier. I'll leave the lego for the SnG's..
Either way, bottom line... I don't think you're gonna go wrong with any Strider. Just don't baby the thing. Use it for anything and everything. Which is far easier to do w/ a Strider than say a Sebenza. Striders just look better with use..
Good luck. And post pics when ya get it..

My man..
See, you think you're gonna like. But when ya get it, you're gonna be like "I didnt even know...."
Hahha.. Can't wait to see it man. Congrats!

Go for a custom knife made by an actual bladesmith. Isn't forged better than stamped?

Call Ben Potter in California and have him make a REAL knife for you.

So to my surprise after a crazy amount of working the past 4 months and my crazy loopholes i leaped through i just recently saved a lot of money. So with all that this money i didn't spend i threw some into a cd and decided i deserve something nice :)

SO please help me as i am so lost.

I'm looking for a plain edges knife, preferably ti, lock type doesn't matter as long as actuation is natural and strong

-i have always had a soft spot for the SMF CC, but i have never handled a strider.
-I love the unnum but I'm kinda looking for a knife thats slightly larger (not because i need it, just because thats what i like)
-lion steel sr-1 is nice but i like to take my knives apart often for cleaning and whatnots

price range $1 - $650

GO!

disclaimer- please do not be bringing up bad things about companies and why you wouldn't buy one. we all know the stories. I'm looking for good suggestions i haven't been exposed to yet

thanks
-Zach
Zach,

Have you seen a Greg lightfoot Chainsaw. A beastly babe, let me tell you that much, if you don't mind a little weight.....
