Help me pick the right PM2 steel

Ya'll are right on the different steels really not being a big difference on putting an edge on them, however, not everyone is skilled to the same level when it comes to sharpening. I'd say, get the steel that fits your level of sharpening skills and the equipment you have to maintain the sharpness that suits you. Any of the steels listed are good quality materials.

Why not try new Cubic Boron Nitride Rods for sharpmaker and use any steel you like, the can rebevel (most time consuming task) harder steels just fine , but the fine / ultrafine rods will still take more time on harder steels...

Sorry if this has been asked before. What is the difference btw the CBN rods and the diamond rods for the SM?

Diamond and CBN are super hard material, and cut much more aggressively, and are faster to set the bevel. They work very well on hard steel

I have a 204p blade in mine. In my use it significantly outperforms S30V while being slightly more difficult to maintain. I hardly ever need to sharpen it though, a few swipes on the strop is usually all it takes.
