My woodgathering and woodbutchering (fuzz sticks, kindling, shelter pegs, ridge poles etc.) skills are starting to improve. I am going to treat myself to some better tools.

Current kit includes:

Gerber Gator - 8" handle - "the knuckle buster" I like the ax head, the handle is a bit short. Great for splitting, use it with a baton.

Fiskars pruning saw - blade a tad short for those bigger jobs

SAK hunstman - saw works great with my fire steel. Larger blade is great for cutting and general camp chores

Buck 110 - Not always the most practical, but kind of a talisman for me.

Tools I am considering:

Fiskars 14 inch hatchet, CS Trail Hawk, Wetterlings wildlife axe, SAK one handed trekker, Silky Saw, Folding Buck saw (from Ben's backwoods). I am trying to combine my purchases from one vendor so I do not end up using too much of the budget on shipping charges.

Recommendations? Vendors?

savings account.... :D

jk.. get a mora 2k..thatll be 30 and a wetterlings axe...should do it...

Wetterlings Mini, M2K (or 510, or Jarvenpaa utility), firesteel, zebra pot if he has them in stock. If no zebra then the ten dollar milsurp kit. Add paracord as possible. :D

Or if strictly cutting tools, Wetterlings Mini, M2K, Vic Rucksack.

(All of above available at bensbackwoods)
