with the barrage you push the thumb studs that are on the blade once it goes out about 30 degrees the spring does the rest so its not to different from a flipper

If they sell Kershaw Leeks at Walmart in your state, then a mini Barrage should be ok.

The Leek is also assisted (and a good knife to boot)

I'll second this one. I love mine with an S30V blade.

On the switchblade law - in many states, wording about a button in the handle defining a switchblade helps make the assisted openers with the lever on the spine or thumb stud on the blade exempt such from the definition. FWIW.

So the mini-barrage is okay in my state then. So far, I am liking the mini barrage, or the Sage 3. Does the barrage come in any color but black? If so, I'd get a mini-barrage. Otherwise I am leaning towards the Sage 3 since I already have black knives but no blue ones.

Any other reccomendations?

The mini-barrage is "fatter" than many knives of the same length. I like the Dragonfly ZDP recommendation. I'm loving mine that I got recently. For me, having a mini-grip makes the mini-barrage kinda redundant, but I like to be discreet with my EDC, which the barrage isn't.

The mini Barrage does come with blue scales at Warriors and Wonders in Canada. The model number is 585-1002. I called and they have them in stock.

Aquaman, you are so kind to have checked on the blue version. It looks awesome. But I am trying to spend a amazon.com gift certificate that I got, and I can't do at that site. Thanks anyway!

The cheapest the Sage3 is on amazon is 119 bucks, shipped. It's about 106 on ebay. Any other reccomendations?

There's some gentlemen's folders out there. I have one by Mcusta, here's another. I might go that way instead of the Sage. The Sage is a lot more knife, but isn't as elegant.
