Help me spend some Knife money!

I've got some knife money burning a hole in my pocket and I've narrowed it down to these knives:
Benchmade 707 Sequel, Benchmade 903 Mini Stryker and Spyderco Sage 5.

I like the size, shape, feel of the BM knives, but I'm also a sucker for the compression lock. (I love my PM2). I like G-10 scales, open/pillar construction, slim profiles and full flat grinds.

If you've owned any of these knives please tell me the good, the bad and the ugly. One of the reasons I'm leaning towards the Sage 5 is the S30V steel. I'm not as familiar with the 154 CM that is used on the Benchmades.

As it stands right now, I'm leaning towards the Sage 5, but I want to keep all options open.

Thanks to all who can help.

FWIW, I've owned all three and the Sage5 is hands down my favorite. The Sequel is a very small knife, and the Mini Stryker just didnt do it for me (I like the 484 much more). The Sage5 is very well done, and is one of those knives that can work in almost any situation. Carrying my Sage2 today.

I own a 707 and use to own a sage 1. The 707 takes up much less room in the pocket if that is a concern to you. It was for me and I sold off the sage 1.

i say save the money and keep saving and buy something in the next higher class. like a ZT, reate, rike, we knives, Chris Reeves etc. 240-500 range

707 is likely my favorite EDC for most light tasks and office carry. Second would be the mini-Ritter griptilian. Both of these examples happen to be M390 steel that is my personal preference. Thats not to discount 154CM or S30V. They are both great steels as well.
Just to note, the mini-Ritter is now discontinued as of this week. The authorized distributor still has/had some inventory left if you decide to go that route. I wouldnt think they will last very long.

Got the orange full-sized Ritter this week.
That M390 is one hell of a steel. Damn, it's wickedly sharp and solid.
The orange FRN handle scales are crap though.

The 707 is a great little knife that disappears in your pocket, it would be my pick on the knives you listed. The Sage series are nice knives too, just bulkier in terms of pocket space consumption. The 707 packs about as much blade as the Sage into a much smaller package. That said, if pocket space isn't at a premium the Sage knives are more comfortable in use--but where does your knife spend more time, in your pocket or in use?

Yes, upgrading the scales with G10 or Micarta dramatically improves the knife's feel. Plus you get to customize it the way you want like a one-off. I prefer the flat-sided scales vs the rounded-griptillian style G10.

Dude, it's time you got a traditional, you've had enough of so called 'modern' folders. I recommend the Trestle Pines Grand Portage. It's everything that's liked about the Beer Scout but with a CPM 154 stainless blade. Show everyone how cool you are when you pull it out and pop the top off your favorite craft beer. It has wood and brass, how real can ya get?
One handed openers are handy, and you already have at least one. So keep carrying one. Nothing has the soul like a traditional though, so add one to your pocket.
I carry only a traditional or a SAK myself. I understand the ease of use for OHO knives, but none of those have a screwdriver. I can assure you, sometime ( or multiple times) your going to be in dire need of a screwdriver and end up ruining a perfectly great knife blade trying to use it as a screwdriver. An SAK comes with a screwdriver. If you want something more special there's the GEC Beer Scout in 1095 perfect but tends to rust steel or the Trestle Pines Grand Portage in a 'holds and edge longer than 1095' CPM 154 steel that is also stainless, doesn't rust and is likely to be passed down to your Great Grand Children.
Really, if you don't mind carrying 2 knives, have your cheap oho, and get a nice traditional.
Myself, I carry just one knife. Trestle Pines Grand Portage or a Vic Explorer. I'm never in a hurry to open my blade, nor do I consider a knife as a self defense implement. A knife is a tool first.
If you honestly have a need for an OHO knife, cool. I've always felt a knife should also have a screwdriver, so get something with that to carry with your OHO.

The Ritter Grip or Mini Grip is a very good suggestion. At one exclusive dealer, but have been discontinued by Benchmade so the current supply won t last long. Arguably the best value Bemchmade made.

I just ordered myself one of those finally (couldnt resist the temptation anymore!) It would be another good choice

I've decided on the Sage 5. My lovely wife surprised me with an early Christmas gift of a 707!

Nice! Sage 5 would have been choice (although you couldn't go wrong with the 3 you listed). I like the 707 but out of my price range.

I've had all of the sages and the 5th iteration is undoubtedly my favorite. Love the deployment. Compression locks are really nice, but they might come out with the PM3 soon, which may be better for the CL. I've had a dozen benchmades and they are all gone. Can't really recommend a benchmade.

The Benchmades I have, I like. The 707 and the Grizzly Creek. I'd like to see about the 943 as well.

I'm gonna cast my vote for the Sage 5.
