!!help me: spyderco tenacious vs. kershaw skyline

Skyline doesn't get mentioned as often as other models but I really like it, EDC often. I don't have a Tenacious yet but if you want a light knife for EDC the Skyline is terrific, great feel in the hand and the flipper works really well, though some don't care for flippers.

I guess it depends if you want light or you want sturdy.

I have both knives and I like the skyline better for edc. As far as steel goes, I've used the hell out of the tenatious and its 8cr13mov has impressed me a lot. It holds a good edge and ive never had problems with chipping. I havnt used the skyline enough to compare the steels. But I've only heard good things about kershaws sandvic steel. For heavy work ide choose the tenatiouse. Its flat grind blade slices really well and the handle is comfortable. Also the clip allows for more carry options. Ide choose the skyline if I were you based on the fact that's its so easy too carry.

anyone else see that NutnFancy's vid of him getting cut up by his Tenacious?
it "opened by itself" in his little fanny pack. has that happened to anyone else? is the Skyline bettre at staying closed? that seems like a major mark against the tenacious.

However you cut it(pun) the Skyline is a light knife; I seldom edc it but have when situation called for it; nice little knife.

I find Tenacious slightly too big for my EDC, perhaps Persistence might be alternative too. I do like my Skyline a lot. Beautiful, slim, light weight and good for pocket carry. But you cannot really go wrong with either.

Now that you mentioned it, that happened to me twice. That is, it opened in my pocket twice - I was only wounded once . I changed the pocket clip from tip up to tip down after that and it didn't happen again, for some reason.

I can't say if that's an inherent flaw in the Tenacious, though, probably just a fluke in my case.

I bought a skyline a week or so ago and love it . I work in a mailroom and do alot of cutting stuff . Like I say , very happy with it . :)

I say go for the Skyline if your plan is to EDC, if not go for the Tenacious. Both are great knives for the price, and you really can't go wrong with either one.

I vote for the Tenacious. I have both, and I think the Tenacious is a little more rugged and user-oriented than what the Skyline offers

I don't own either but i'd take the Sandvik steel over the Chinese steel any day.

Another vote for the Tenacious. I love mine. I like Kershaws too, but the Tenacious wins this time.

thx - cpr
