!!help me: spyderco tenacious vs. kershaw skyline

It may be a bad one. I don't abuse my knives - I enjoy them too much. All I was doing was adjusting the fins/grate of an air vent (10 pounds of pressure max). Using it improperly, yes. Abusing the knife - not by my definition. I had previously done that many times with a multitude of other edc's - no problem.

In this case I'd say you probably got a bad knife. That or your pivot pin is too loose. Is there much blade play?

Thanks Sal. I think you have described with specificity the problem with my particular Skyline. On another note, I was in the SFO two weeks ago and was helped out beyond my expectations. As I was leaving the store, I learned that it was none other than Mrs. Glesser moving mountains to make sure I left with a smile. Please tell her thanks again!

My Tenacious's blade chipped in 4 different spots today and the blade edge rolled over some as well. I was cutting thin plastic and cardboard packages today at work. Kinda dissappointed in the blade steel, but the fit and finish were definitely high quality. I said screw it and ordered a Manix 2 though!

Blade steel is not greatest, but good for the price, its 0.8% C and 13 Cr, with lots of alloy. It looks about 440B. Has anyone had any problems other than this? i wonder if its a heat treat issue, bad blade, heck, call Spyderco, and have them replace it!

Kershaw Skyline is lighter and sleeker in the pocket, Tenacious is bulky tougher knife IMO...Skyline made in the USA, Tenacious in China......to different kind of blades....i would compare Blur and Tenacious they are more proportional IMO

I'll tell Gail. The store is her responsibility and she's passionate about it.

While I like some Kershaws (Leeks for example) the Skyline isnt one of them. Very thin and weak feeling. The linerlock is stupid thin. I just received one for Xmas and it'll make a decent light duty beater but its apples and oranges with a Tenacious.
