Help me to understand the 2

What's to understand? It's a lightning bolt in your hand. A sheath full of Cro-van Viagra. ;)

Come to the West Coast gathering in sept., most likely there will be several there. The BK2 isn't my favorite either, yet I'm convinced of it's utility. I just got finish chopping with one of mine, It works about as well as a 5.5 inch knife will at chopping.

It's a stout thick but not too heavy blade with handles that make sure you won't loose grip when doing finer tasks or chopping with 3/4 finger grip.
It's an all rounder blade. As can be seen on this forum it can also be customised to a point where you will have one of a kind, and in doing so not compromising performance or integrity of the steel.
You're paying reasonable dollars for a top shelf knife.
Just get it! When you hold it in your hand you will realise it's a champion!

To me the BK2 is like macaroni and cheese. Everyone likes to make theirs a little different. Thick and hearty. Some may feel its not the best but it ALWAYS gets the job done. Neither has ever let me down. I always say "Never underestimate your ability to screw up" and the BK2, like Mac n cheese, is hard to screw up.

Its my go to knife because it can do everything, granted not as good as other but it still doesn everything. What i mean by that is sure a bk9 or junglas is gonna chop better, and a bk11 or 14 is going to do smaller work better, but if i had to choose one it would be the 2. one knife to process wood, make traps, process game....the 2 does it all and thats why I swear by it

I used to think so too....until I got good at sharpening it. A good edge on a '2 makes a world of difference.

So I see a lot of people on here that say the 2 is their go to woods knife and that strikes me as odd but maybe it's just cuz I AM odd.:D Seems to me it's one of those in between blades that really doesn't do anything well. Is it a favorite because of the batoning and prying aspect or something I'm missing? I would think the best Becker knife for the woods would be a 9 teamed with a small and light companion whether it's a fixed or a folder. My go to is a BHKmachete, CS tomahawk or gb mini paired with a pocket knife.

I would agree that the knife doesn't do anything well. For every knife chore, another knife or tool would be better. I think the point that has been stated in one way or another several times here is that for a variety of chores on one package, the BK2 does it all well enough. If you were to strap an axe, Mora, BK2 and a KA-BAR USMC to your imaginary belt, go into the woods for a week, I would guess that the BK2 would see the least amount of play. However, take just the BK2, and you would likely do just fine.
