Help Me Understand Magnicut

There is also the 'Knife Steel Nerds' channel on YouTube. There are not a ton of videos, but Larrin has some discussing MagnaCut, K390, etc. along with related topics.

I have been highly impressed by my Bradford Guardian 3 in Magnacut. It sharpens as easily as any high carbon steel (on diamond hones), takes an extremely fine edge and hold it way beyond my expectations, cuts through knots, zip-ties, hose and cardboard with no chipping. Its stainless property is just a bonus.

This page sums it up nicely:

It has GOOD edge retention, but not great or outstanding. Other properties are impressive.

Class-leading corrosion resistance. Above average in toughness and sharpenability.

Thankyou everyone.

I now kn ow enough more to be able to filter theough other forums and videos.

Re Typing: My best touch-typing speed was ~25 wpm w/o errors. That was 20+ years ago. Now I use two fingers and spellcheck.

Professor, shouldn't that be "if only there were"?

(I don't get a chance to rag on you more highly educated types enough, so I've got to get my shots in where I can. 🤣 🍻 )
Professor MagnaBlues!

Don't give me detention for this!

Hasn't happened since 1975. Don't want to end my winning streak. Plus, I don't think you are a girl and I just pushed you into a mud puddle.

M390 has been the darling of the knife world for far too long now. I personally am not a fan of it, so the more Magnacut the better in my book. Everyone is still arguing over the heat treat, but to me the softer heat treats are still performing great. In my opinion CRK seems to be doing it the best so far. No clue what the HRC is on my Sebenza, but it seems to stay crazy sharp even after a lot of cutting, and when it does lose a bit of bite, it sharpens back super easy.

Your spell check needs warranty service. ;)

My spell check suffers from poor eyesight that often does not see the little squiggly line along with serious cas ofg ft fingers. For some reason, I often mash both the s and a keys and get the wrong one or caps-lock.

And then there is my life long chronic inability to spell.
