Help me understand Spyderco knives

Do yourself a favor...I was in the same boat as you not too terribly long ago. I just never saw what the attraction to Spyderco was. They all looked alike, and I didn't really care too much for any of them.

I forced myself to buy a Tenacious...for a whopping $34 or something like that (which is about retail)...and quickly saw the light. Seriously, buy one. You won't regret it. If, for some unlikely reason, you just don't catch the bug (pun intended), you're only out $30 some dollars. I'll bet you end up out a WHOLE lot more than that when you start buying high end models, Sprint runs, etc. Oh yea, that low budget Tenacious is still one of my favorite knives.

Yeah, I was about to come in and say just buy a Tenacious. They're around 30 bucks and even if you don't dig the aesthetics (to be honest I don't really) you'll appreciate how well made it is for the price. The craftsmanship is on the level of much more expensive folders.

I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago. It had been a long while since I'd owned a Spyderco, except for a short stint with the Persistence. But I have read so many positive post's concerning Spyderco's that I wanted to try one and the one that had really caught my attention was the Perrin PPT.

When it arrived I quickly saw why there were so many positive reviews on Spyderco knives! The fit/finish is a 10/10, blade sharpness 10/10, lockup 10/10, and overall design is a 10/10. If all Spyderco's are built as well, and from what I've read they seem to be, then I don't see how one could go wrong with including an example in their daily edc rotation. Mine rides in my back right pocket.:)

Tenacious - Chinese made with G10 handles, 8cr13alphabetsoup steel and a liner lock.

Hahahaha! 8cr13alphabetsoup! That's funny :D

Endura is the big brother of Delica. Both uses FRN handles, back lock, and VG-10 steel. Made in Japan.
Tenacious is the big brother of Persistence. Both uses G-10 handles, liner lock, and 8cr13mov steel. Made in China.
Paramilitary is a class on it's own. G-10 handles, compression lock, S30v steel, and almost everyone has 1. Made in USA.

If there's anymore u need to know, tell us :)

What defines a Endura vs a Delica vs a Tenacious vs a Paramilitary?

Easy. The Paramilitary (2) is defined as the finest production knife ever made. The Delica and Endura are defined as the long and short versions of Spyderco's flagship EDC lockback models.

The Tenacious is defined as a Chinese liner lock Spyderco. Sorry, but one out of three isn't enough for me. I'm sure it's a great low cost 'gateway knife' but I was already addicted.

Spyderco should have a knife rental section.. U can rent one of their knives for a week for 5.00 and try it out and then return if it does not fit your needs. That would be perfect for first time knife enthusiast. Lol! A delica is a good place to start IMO.
