Help Me Understand

I have also heard JHubbard totally own up to less than acceptable production runs on this and other forums. That is honesty I really appreciate, and of course we know they will make it right when it happens.

I am confident that If I received a 110 or Buck Knife with what I deemed to be unacceptable quality, Buck would make it right.

I will say this I do think that sometimes as knife nuts and knife collectors we notice things that the average user doesn't. While there are a lot of use out there I would think we make up a small percentage of the market. ( I could be wrong.)

I collect other knives besides Buck and sometimes with all of them if I look hard enough I can find flaw.Buck and Case make up the majority of my pocket knives with a few Queen,Schatts, Bull Dogs, eyeBrand, etc thrown in. If I look hard enough I can find flaw with any.

A few years ago I bought into the Buck bashing and kind of avoided them. But at the same time I was buying the cheaper bucks for my kids (Bantams) and really was impressed with the amount of knife for the money even though the weren't my style of knife.

I looked over the few new Bucks that I had acquired over the past 7 years and while they were different then the ones I had from the past they were still good knives. I think the thing with Buck knives they are more or less considered users for most people with looks second. A couple of years ago I had two Case mini-trappers that had to go back because the sharpened grind didn't go all the way to the tip.

I guess in my opinion I think it happens with all companies if enough things are produced. But this is just my 2 cents.

I was at my local outdoor mega-store today, and, while I was waiting to be helped, I peered through the glass at quite a large collection of Buck models. Could not see any visible FF issues that would even remotely be considered a problem in the price range. Couldn't even find a poorly fitted backspring. I happen to know that the guys at this store don't prescreen their display knives. When they sell one, they just unwrap the next one in the drawer, and, unless something really awful catches their eye, they plop it in the display case.

I bought a Buck 425 years ago, for about $25 or so. It was a cheap "user" and it's been used. It held up, though the black nonslip coating has all worn off. I bought a 110 and a 55 and a 345 within the past year, all look great. I'm not saying no problems slip through but Buck is batting 100 so far for me.
