firstly, can you buy tempered and hardened stainless? I just built a 1x42 belt grinder (thanks Wayne Goddard), and was wondering if it would be easier than..
heat treating 1095. I have yet to build a one brick forge, but I've decided to use 1095 because of its edge holding ability. Also I have some 1095 products, and I've been happy with them. What is the cycle for 1095? any other input is appreciated. thanks, Joe

Working hardened (and tempered) SS doesn't sound like much fun, especially if you have to drill it. Buy it annealed and then send it to one of the many folks who will heat treat it for you for what is really a bargain price, considering the trouble it will save you. Small HC blades (folder size) can be heat treated in the one brick forge, with the magnet method.
