I live in a temperate rainforest and have used one carbon steel blade on and off for hunting, camping and other outdoor activities for almost 30 years (NNNNOOOOOO I can't be that old, whew it's only been 27 years or so)
It has a nice patina but is still in good sheath even though I bought it used at a swap meet and it has a leather sheath and handle
