I would NOT reccomend that you carry a blade with a double edge. Get a good small fixed edge blade. I neck knife is good. Go to http://coldsteel.com and order a free catalog. Take a look at the Mini Tac. Try to get a consealed carry permit. Get training in that new tool

One of the basic rules I follow is to reserve my defensive knife for that purpose alone and carry a second utility knife. I would cut the boxes and paper with the utility knife. This keeps your defensive knife ready for it's real purpose (even if it is never used). Hey, just think of it as preserving it's resale value!

I know that means you have to carry at least 2 knives. For many of us here on BladeForums 2 is a pretty small number. I actually carry at least 3 almost all the time.
