Anybody know of anything like this for less than 200?

I guess you know you will need to contact a knife maker to have it made. If money is no object then go for the folder as i beleive the fixed blade would be less expensive.

That is the knife from the upcoming Legend of Zelda game isn't it?

All kidding aside, that is very impractical design wise. It will be uncomfortable to use, impossible to carry and I can see it would snag on things as it gets deployed. Are you sure that she wasn't pulling your leg with that design?

Women will put asthetics before funtion almost every time. Not all of them, but that guard looks uncomfortable if not semi-dangerous to the user. It's too pointy, and there's not enough space for the index finger or the hand.
Tattoos aside, the rest of the handle and the blade could work. But, I'd be worried about cost if it is to be a real knife. It looks like a fantasy knife.

it in every way would be a fantasy knife, and yes she has placed aesthetics above practicality but she is pretty serious. I already have it out on the custom knives page and they threw out number around 3000+ and like i said I am on a 200 or less. i was hoping for a production that was similar.

Is there a blade blank out there that could have her handle added? The problem is the details, lots of artwork to be created from scratch. A basic knife design can be made custom for pretty cheap, but add lots of details in that handle and you've added lots of hours of work, and money. I love knives, and to me they are tools not art. If she wants a fantasy knife, it would be kinda weird to spend more than $200.
Does she have her own knife, other than kitchen knives? Most people will need a real knife at some point, and owning a nice user knife might make her happy for now.
Good luck with the knife.

I honestly do not think that you will find a production knife with that much flair. If you were to find something like that, I would be concerned about overall quality. Most production companies are all about function, what works and works well.

Try the old Ladybug on the keychain, don't say anything and see what happens. It's worth a try. how about a stainless steel handle knife with some awesome engraving? Maybe a Delica, Cricket, or similar.

She wants a knife but she wants that knife........ which complicates things

Lol I thought the drawing might look something like this when I read the description...

Look up any CNC engraving companies. If you make the design on the computer, most cnc companies will do custom engraving for cheap if you do the leg work. They only have to figure out the tool path that way. This is particularly easy to do on a stainless steel handle. That is the only way I could think of that it would be cheaper than $200.

Edit
Make sure the scales are flat. Engraving costs more on curved surfaces, as it is more tricky (think 3d tool path vs 2d)
