I only mentioned the difference between the numbered and non-numbered versions because the original piccie I saw of the numbered version has a carved/molded micarta retainer, and the ones on the non-numbered were nylon. No issue, and as someone else pointed out, their numbered version is the same, so presumably the piccies I saw were post production samples.
As regards the knife, it's a first class piece of workmanship, bought on the back of the original TAK1, RAT7, and subsequently, two Izulas and an RC4. I keep buying RAT for the quality of the knives. As has been pointed out, I had an issue with the sheath. I tried every combination of screw and even no screws and just the the Molle clips with rubber washers. In the end I resolved it with home modification. If I'd made an arse of it I might have been a bit pissed that I'd had to go to that extreme, but as it is, I think I did a neat and tidy job. I have a nice even 1mm seam along the open edge and the knife stays in real snug and with pressure from my thumb, it'll disengage.
I'd still buy an aftermarket sheath if someone skilled in the molding of Kydex were to market one. But the knife itself is one of the best I have in respect of comfort in the hand and the confidence it gives. I haven't field tested it yet, but so far it's a sterling performer.
