I posted in the Balisong Forum also, but thought I'd also bring it to this thread as well. It has the Balisong Logo and Japan on one side, the other side has the lion logo with "Sampson" marked on it. It does not have Pacific Cutlery marked on it, as I got one today just like this one, that did(It sold tho). The handle appears to be ivory or bone. I originally thought it was micarta, but am really unsure.

Any help with what it is/collector value/information/how old possibly? I picked it up this weekend at the show. We got a little bored so we did some horse trading!

I remember Pacific Cut'l made a similar model in the mid 80's called the WeeHawk Boot and I think Jody Sampson designed it. Maybe you have a proto?

Hmmmmmm, come to think of it. I obtained 2 of these today, one of the sheaths had a "boot style" clip. The sheath I have left with this one is a belt style with left or right carry. I let the guy pick which sheath he wanted.
The person I traded it for told me he thought it was at least 15 years old or so.

That's the Jody Samson custom version of the production Pacific Cutlery Samson Boot Knife, circa 1986. Good find!

No, its actually the same factory version of Jody Samson's custom design. Just a different handle option is all. A few years ago, Ironstone had a closeout on all the Pacific Cutlery knives. I remember this model being listed along with the green and black micarta models. This is actually just white bone. At the time, this model was sold out, so I got one in green micarta. Foolishly sold it though. If I remember correctly, this model was being closed out for under $50, but that value has doubled at least. I believe Pacific Cutlery went out of business about 15 years ago? Still a good find($100-150), but not worth near what a custom Samson model would be worth.
