Help ordering my first Busse

I am confused because there are two sites:

One http://www.bussecombat.com/knives/index.shtml
only lists the HG55.

Another http://bussecompanystore.com/ lists SUS SCROFA, THE SKINNY ASH, and NMSFNO.

Which site is right? is the 'company store' old?

I want the NMSFNO to replace a Ka-Bar d2 I broke.
Basically, Busse Combat sells Knives that are in current Production (HG55). Company store sales Knives that are out of production. You can only get the NMSFNO at the Company Store now.

They are both the right sites. Bussecombat.com is the company site, and there is typically only one offering at a time there. Right now it's the HG55 as the NMSFNO has been discontinued.

The BusseCompanyStore is an associated website, an "outlet," if you will, where knives which are out of production are offered. It's run by "IdahoSkunk" and his lovely wife, and they do a fantastic job with shipping and whatnot.

At either place, what you see is what you get. Skunk DID have NMSFNO's up recently, but they may be gone. If they are, your other options are that terrible auction site, and the Busse exchange here on BF.

You can also post a WTB (want to buy) thread. I'm sure someone will contact you. Goo luck, and welcome to the trough. Have some scotch and a cigar, and enjoy yourself. You're (wallet's) in for a wild ride. ;)

Thanks - This site kicks ass. Very quick replies. Was turned on via knife tests dot com to it...

Is there a 'search' function here?

There is, my boy, but you must be at least a basic user to access it. When the site owner had it open to everyone, it drew the site's server farm down ... and fast.

It's a personal choice, but I think it's well worth it to lay down a few dollars and support a site as good as this one. I think a basic membership is very cheap ... something like $10/year.

If you don't wish to be a paid member, we'll happily help you out ... to a certain point.;)

I have not seen most of that one just intro - too big IMHO- I seen the whole SKINNY ASH test and was going to look into getting that until I stumbled onto NMSFNO.

OP is right. You'll like it here...might as well pony up.

But...if you're not convinced yet and wanna be able to search, go to google, click on advanced search, go to the bottom where it says "search specific domain," and enter bladeforums.com...then go up to the search bar and type in your query. Not as great as the forum search, but plenty helpful.

Enjoy your time here.

You could really help me... Looking for slicing comparison of NMSFNO vs. SKINNY ASH.

Ideally i'd have one chopper and one fillet in same sheath but $ makes this a problem.

Well, heck. I can tell you that myself.

If you want a slicer, right out of the box, it would be the Skinny ASH. The NMSFNO has a more obtuse edge -- it could be MADE a slicer, if you know how to put a good edge on it.

I like both knives, myself, and I have both knives. But if you can only afford one, and are set on slicing tasks (camp knife type tasks), I'd say you should get the Skinny ASH.

If we're talking chopping, the story is very different.

Just ordered one via paypal

19DST NMSFNO - Desert sage with tan machined micarta. 1 $327.00 $327.00

But I have one more question - anyone seen a tan Kydex sheath for these?

Someday when Mr. Busse makes a pearing/fillet knife avail I'll add it to outside.

Thanks again.

I think just about all the Kydex makers have different colors for sheaths. Try Mashedcat, Okuden, or others.

Jerry has already made fillet knives and IDAHOSKUNK may still have one on the exchange but take your heart pills before you look it up. Old INFI (or D2) tends to be a bit expensive. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the links OLD PHYSICS. I went ahead and ordered the larger NMSFNO primarily because of that unique 'melt down' effect and while as good as the SKINNY ASH is it still can't do everything. (need a second knife regardless)

Thanks Pete.

I understand that Mr. Busse has made fillets in the past, however, I meant when they are available to purchase at website. e.g. a new one, at retail, and sometime in future when I can afford it.

You are quite correct.:)

Enjoy your Meltdown ... since it's a Busse, you must treat it shabbily and use it constantly.;)

BTW, Dave Brown also makes good kydex sheaths.
