I was wondering if anyone would be willing to insight me on where the best place to buy any type of bar stock or steel for knife making.

I finally ran out of steel last night, it was all given to me by friends and a mentor.

If anyone has a good place to go whether its online or near my general area It would greatly help me out
 
I order from Kelly Cupples, I have met Arlo and he is a great guy. He has more selection than Kelly but being on the east coast the freight makes a difference. Since you are in Idaho you might want to try him. Email him and he will send you a price list.

Aldo is great but so is Kelly. On steel, if you buy more than $100 worth from Kelly Cupples the freight is free. That is worth a lot in this day. Just to let you know what kind of guy Kelly is, I sent him an email telling him I needed to order 50lbs of powdered steel. He sent me a new price list and powder is not covered in the freight free over $100. Kelly does not accept PP or CC so I needed to send him a MO. Well I was getting ready to run down to the PO and UPS pulls up. Kelly had sent me the material without payment. I did get the check in the mail the next AM but that was cool. Now this was the first time I had actually ordered from Kelly but I am definitely doing more business with him in the future.

wow, that's first class all the way !!!! and very good to know about the free shipping I may have to give him a buzz on my next order no doubt..
 
wow, I didn't know about Kelly Cupples, I've heard of him but wasnbt aware of what type of buissness it was. That sounds like the perfect place for me, since I live in WA. I'm curious to know what type of steel he sells and the dimensions and cost. Do you have to ask about all that in an email or does anybody here know of a place where that info is listed, or just happen to know anywayl? I've been getting my steel from Aldo the last few times but seeing that I don't go through steel that fast (at least not yet) I just a few days ago ordered three 48" bars of 1/8" thick by 1.5" wide steel which came to $55 and shipping was $20, So if I could use that extra money meant for shipping to buy more steel, and yet having it ship for free, Id be crazy not ta go that route.
