Help - Paramilitary 2 vs Para 3 without clip

Oh and to add more complexity to the mix, about your comment on the 940, since you are a "foreigner", BM will send out replacement omega springs if you ever need them. I have broken springs on 2 separate 940's and BM sent me out replacement springs. As I'm in a hostile socialist country that is north of the States, sending in to warranty is out of the question.

However, as in all things "economic", that loose policy may change at any time.

Hard to say, nobody can tell but you, really. I carry PM2, 3 and Manix 2 without pocket clip, no issues. The pocket clip is most redundant on the PM3, due to size.

Don't sell the Manix 2 just yet. Buy either PM2 or PM3 (or both), and use it/them. See if you like how the compression lock feels in hard use, before selling the Manix, I suggest.

Roland.
Nope, not selling Manix. It will stay. Or I will give it to my father to replace Tenacious since he likes that size.

It's a funny thing with the PM3 .... I don't love it since I usually carry 3.5" blades and longer. Yet, one of my PM3s is the most used knife in our household. Very practical.

Yeah, 945 with black blade is nice. What really caught my attention to BM 940/945 was how little space it takes compared to PM's spydie hole. I think it's the only knife model that in my eyes competes with looks of PM.

I would have to agree, but then again I'm a Benchmade fanboi and especially 940's...

I have never had a knife with compression lock, and this is something I haven't really thought about. Didn't have problems with Manix though.

When it comes down to safety, then I rather leave the clip on and go with PM2. I prefer the look of it against midget looking P3. One youtuber said that "PM2 is a big knife that carries like a small knife, and Para 3 is a small knife that carries like a big knife."
I personally love the para2. The para3 is a great lightweight knife, but at that point I'd rather a Manix 2 lw.

Get the para2 if you want a full size knife, the compression lock is fantastic, and yes it carries slim for its size.

[Snip] but I really can't stand backlocks, feels like operating mouse trap with a razor attached.

Wish 8 could help but my needs and preferences are so different, I just really can't.

I just wanted to say - your analogy is awesome! Hope ya don't mind but I plan on using it, from time to time.

Para 3. On a different route the Native 5 carries small and is my preference to the para series.

I can’t possibly imagine a knife without a pocket clip, and I don’t carry anything smaller than a PM2. If you don’t really need a knife that bad then get a delica or Pm3 and remove the clip.

Just a note:
I was on the phone with Benchmade 2 days ago and I asked about a set of Omega springs.
I was told quite clearly they will no longer ship springs, they will only provide replacement springs for knives sent to them.

Are you in Canada, or at the very least not in the US? I ask because I was told a year and a half ago (by CS) that they would and did send out replacement springs to Canada. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that "policy" gets changed, especially after all the consequences of the past 18 months or so.

So it's back to making my own springs it is then.

edit: Oh, and to keep this on topic I did play with my Para 3 this morning

I am in the US. I don't know what the policy is to the rest of the world, and I apologize if I added confusion to this thread.
As of last Friday they were quite clear, no shipping springs, to me at least.
I have recently purchased some springs from another 3rd party, but I don't have them yet so I can't comment on them.

Of all the Spyderco knives I have the PM2 and Para3 are my favorites. The Para 3 is for when I want a slightly smaller version of the PM2, and vice versa.
I don't carry any other Spydies very often because none seem to do anything better than the PM2 or 3.
I'm not a fan of the Manix2 but I want to like it so bad. Same basic size and a lock I like less than the compression lock so no reason to reach for it.
I used to carry a Tenacious when I wanted to avoid carrying a knife that was a little more expensive, but I hardly do that anymore.

Truth be told I carry my BM 940 far more than all of the above.

Pretty well me word for word. I only have three Spyderco's as I find they pretty well cover the rest of the catalog. As far as the 940 is concerned see above...
