Help please...What's a good browser to install ?

I installed Firefox 3.6 tonight , and I'm having a ball !! Waaay faster , and lots of cool options. I reckon it'll take a while to get used to it , but IE was just pissing me off anyhow.

This is great so far !!

I purchased a Dell tower with Windows 7 and IE-8 on Cyber monday. It's my wife's and family computer.

It all worked fine until I tried to view my own website. No good. the Gallery didn't show. The warning screen came up mentioning I needed to upgrade to the 'latest' version of Flash to stay compatible.

So I did. For hours installing, uninstalling, reverting, etc. I spent flippin' six-eight hours over days trying to get my own site to work.

After all that I found the problem through other forums: IE8 has a compatibility mode tab which needs clicking to emulate previous versions of IE to show some websites.

Problem is, the button to click doesn't appear on the problem page. You have to go back to your HOME PAGE to find the tab and click it. (Where the problem isn't originating.)

The write in the above link said this about it:
Internet Explorer 8 is far from perfect. I find it more than a little amusing that it can't render sites that have been 'enhanced' for IE 7. All of which goes to show, as I've long thought, that anyone who writes a site specifically for a version of Internet Explorer is an idiot. Web sites should be usable to anyone with a standards-compliant Web browser.

Firefox DID work, but I needed to find the solutioin first, before my clients had probs.

ME? I use a Mac and Safari. Works just fine.

A good decision, OP.

I've been using Firefox because I want my browser to operate just so.
I find that the settings on Firefox are more open and easier to find so that it works pretty much just the way I want. I also like all the addon options.

I found an add-on called "better Privacy" that I like a lot. It removes cookies that none of the browsers remove. It found cookies left over from when I was using IE, even though I had set IE, Safari, and Firefox to delete them. Browser runs much faster without them. Recommended.

Firefox for me.

Although I admit that I have not tested IE8.
Chrome sucked when I tried that recently. The available ad-blocker was a useless, clunky, POS.
Tried Opera a couple of years ago. Didn't care for it. "Good enough for Mac users." ;)

I'm using SeaMonkey.

It's very fast, and I like having dedicated fixed buttons for opening and closing tabs.

It's also Mozilla based, so many Firefox plugins should work.

What sucks about Google Chrome? I just started using it tonight after FF 3.5 took way too long to load, switch pages, close pages, etc.
