So this worked good for me last time I was looking for some custome scales for a griptilian so I’m going to try it again. I have a crk op umnumzaan that I sent in to the spa because it had previously had someone polish the blade. I wanted it back to original finish or close to it. They said they couldn’t do it because of tolerance issues. some I’m looking for recomendations for someone on here that can help me out. Had someone recommend phantom steelworks and a search to find them led to some post about people getting ripped off so anyone have any good words for some knifemakers that could help me get this old pivot zaan back to its glory. Thanks in advance.

Also forgot to add I inspected the knife before sending it off to crk and didn’t notice any blade play or anything like that so I don’t know if it is just crk maybe not wanting to help me because they think I tried to alter the knife blade or if there is an actual chance that retumbling the blade would create some tolerance or functuality issues.

Polishing the blade is a deal breaker- There is no way to tell for sure how it was polished..Powered means or by hand so the warranty on the blade is voided. Likely the reason why they wouldn't do anything with it. They could easily replace the blade as an option..but it would lose some of the iconic features that associate it with the OP knife such as the thumb serrations.

Other than a blade replacement ... you might contact Josh @ REK Sharpening ... he does alot of mods and refinishing blades along with his sharpening service ... not sure if that is something he would do but he would definately tell you what he thought your best options would be.

Stonewashed finish? Ive heard but never done this. Put the blade and different kinds of stones in a bag. Put the bag in a pillow case and put it in the dryer for a few hours.
