I've had the great pleasure of getting to know knifemaker richard j through the forums. He's a stellar member here who gives to others a great deal.

His friend was recently diagnosed with canver. Here's Richard's message:

last night a friend told me my friend frosty was in the hospital after getting sick a few days ago. they operated on him for an obstructed bowel when they found out that he has colon cancer which had spread all over. they removed what they could of it but the doctors gave him 6 months. he has a wife and a 12 year old daughter. send some smoke their way if you would please.

He is giving 50% of the price of his knife sales on his site to his friend's family to help defray the costs of treatment. Here's info and a link:

I WILL BE SPLITTING ANY MONEY MADE FROM MY KNIFE SALES TO HELP MY FRIEND FROSTY WHO HAS CANCER. please include phone number in email to save me some typing (SPARK APPROVED MY POSTING THIS) rje196021@gmail.com

Prayers on the way.
Richard, what you are doing is wonderful. At this time prayers are the best I can do.
Hope he can beat this.

I have one of Richards knives. It's an excellent cutter with fantastic ergonomics

Sorry to hear about your friend.

My sympathy to your friend and all his loved ones and friends.
My mother almost died from colon cancer about 10 years ago.
And it came back a second time as well but shes been cancer free for almost 6 years now.
One of my friends dad died from colon cancer a few years back.
And another friends dad has it now and is going in for surgery Monday morning.
Stupid freakin !@#$! cancer!

Richard is top notch.

He would do this for anyone on the forums just as quick as he would for one of his personal friends.

I lost the person I respected most to muscle cancer, my grandpa... Cancer is horrible crap. I wish your friend the best of luck, I hope he get through it.

I am battling colon cancer right now. prognosis is good though. I know first hand the horrors your friend is going through. He will be in my daily prayers.

thanks brian. frosty is slowly getting some strength back. he is going to start taking chemo when he gets some strength built back up. i hope both my friends beat this crap.
soon my other friend who has breast cancer goes in for radiation therapy. she is a strong woman and a good friend too. (she has the prettiest blue eyes i have ever seen too :D)

cancer can be beat , thoughts n prayers sent , its a topic way way too close to home for comfort , I know of no-one whose life hasnt been touched someway by cancer .

I respect you for standing by your mate and his family .

I gave my right lung to cancer back in 1999. I have been free of it since. It can be beat. I would like to make a bit of a donation to help out if that's possible It can't be much but let me know how to do it.:)
