Im not a big knife for chopping guy ... I prefer a saw such as a Silky or similar and a small hatchet or axe.

But if you're set on a 5" range knife ... a few I could recommend would be a Bradford Guardian 5 or 6 ... a Fiddleback Forge Duke ... an LT Wright Outback ... or a GSO 5.1 .. lighter and will do the work ... maybe not as well as heavier knives but they will work. Other then these some of the custom makers may offer a knife in your specific specs that would handle the work.

If a knife is too heavy I would suggest some type of resistance training. Free weights mostly. Or Indian clubs and medicine balls.

5" Light Wt Chopper ? Oxymoronic and masochistic . I'd go the two knife way . And/ or add in a saw , hatchet or camp ax . Unless you expect a minuscule amount of wood processing , or got something to prove , why be miserable ?

Ran a quick backyard chopping test when I got home using some deck lumber, my Junglas 1, Junglas 2, and 2 heavy Schrade fixed blades I have 5" and 7". Bottom line I think I'll need to stick with the 2-knife solution I'm using now, basically a Junglas and a small fixed 3.5-4.5". Anything smaller than the Junglas 2 just doesn't seem like efficient chopping to me, too light and too short no matter how good the knife.
That would be my suggestion as well and I think you already do that. It's the 5" size that is a killer for the smaller knife (even soft wood) without an abundance of effort. You can do 2", but 5" is really stretching it for a 5"-ish knife.
