Help sharpening my FFG spydies

Is it not "free floating" as described in the W.E. video (at least both sides of the clamp would match the angle but not distal taper of a FFG)?

It looks like it should clamp on a FFG, although would not compensate for a distal taper.

Well in the video he says the jaws are 'free floating and conform to a huge variety of knife grinds', but I'd say that's a bit misleading. The jaws do not conform to distal taper. They will hold a FFG knife - meaning that it will not move - through the considerable force generated by the new vice but my experience was that the knife was not held vertical without foam tape. So as far as FFG, no real improvement over Gen 2 that I could see.
