Help Sharpmaker and ESEE!!

This is going to be no help at all but I felt like I needed to say it. I can easily get TP slicing, hair whittling edges with the sharpmaker and UF rods.

So, rest assured if the sharpmaker isn't working for you it's user error, or the angle doesn't match the angles on the sharpmaker. The best remedy I've found for that is to go to walmart and purchase the 2 sided diamond stone from smiths. Use the smiths stone to drastically thin the edge out, then hop on the sharpmaker and put a microbevel on the knife. Works every time. Although now I use the edge pro. If you have the coin at the moment, definitely get one.

I wore out the medium grit ones, to the point of seeing most of the steel that was bonded to the material [the white stones are treated differently plus you usually don't work em hard enough to make them not last a lifetime lol] , but it wasn't just the hest, I had trouble working various acute angled tanto blades and such that - I found out the hard way, and was not 40 or 30 degrees lol - so I tried to reprofile that and the hest and such on the mediums. But I have bought a new set of mediums, so its all good. I just wish I could get my Hest the way it used to be. It is sharp, in the fact if you slide it across your finger you will see a layer of skin come off, and cut paper; but it wont cut straight pit will cut weird or tear etc]. So its sharp... but off I guess. When its nicer out ill test it out on some 2x4's I have in the garage and see if it shaves well. Then its all gravy, if not, I will just send it in to a professional with some - this sounds way demanding, but can;t think of the word - requirements/requests, for them to make the edge either a 40 or 30, so I can use it on the sharpmaker without fault. Anyway thanks mates for even looking into my problems, and OP im sorry I kind of thread jacked, albeit in the same topic.

I had to reprofile my hest recently and I used 220 grit sandpaper wrapped around my leather strop. It also works well wrapped around my norton 4k/8k stone. Brought it to a nice 30deg inclusive edge. Then finished up on stones. Lately I've been shying away from the shapmaker except for quick touch ups on already sharp knives.
