Help! - SJTAC or ASH-1 for Mid-Size Camping Knife?? (The Search Is Over!!)

BATAC is the best all-arounder IMLTHO. Mine sees more use than any I have had. The DSSF is definitely right up there as well.

congrats on your knife. If the sheath came with it then you got a VERY reasonable deal. I believe the batac le cost atleast $400 when in production and mbhanzo is gonna charge you atleast $55 for that sheath which is totally worth it, best sheaths Ive ever owned.

Congrats on your successful quest.

Since you have the small and medium size covered, then you need to get a full sized chopper next.

Every man needs a Mistress. ;)

Congrats! The BATAC in any version is a fine choice.

This is true - everyone's first should be a Mistress, just to put the size of Busse knives in proper perspective. :D

I vote ASH all the way. The SJTAC feels/balances more like a fighter to me. Find an .22 ASH, you won't regret it.

Well - the search is over. I pulled the trigger on some new mid-size INFI this morning. And my new mid-sized beauty is......the BATAC LE!!
...

Congratulations, I think you will really enjoy your BATAC LE - it is a very stout knife! I like the BATAC handle better than the SAR-4 (although I know some will disagree).

For a larger knife, in addition to the SFNO you might also want to consider a FSH or a Basic 9 or Basic 11, or maybe even a BWM or FBM. The Basic handle is my favorite; it is VERY comfortable and secure too.

Have fun using your BATAC LE!

Nice!
I have a BATAC LE as well and love it.

When you get your "chopper" you might want to pass on the SFNO and get the slightly bigger NMSFNO- 1 more inch of blade, same awesome handle....and cheaper.

Good choice. My BATAC LE is my favorite knife now. Heavy but super robust, and with a surprising good edge angle. In my opinion much more easy to use than the Ash-1.
