Geeze... you guys don't make life cheap.. :D

I just bought a bm710 and tenacious to get started... again... but I was thinking that one other item might be required as well. Not as a edc, but for an occasional carry when something beefy is wanted - the ZT 0200. Is there something else I should look at? Something carry able that I could hack through tough objects with no fear. Not really interested in fixed blade as I want to carry it and home defense is already covered by an 870 (that sound is a little easier for the interested party to hear than the knife lock...)

I was also thinking about the buck vantage pro - but considering the other knives I already bought, not sure if that would fill much different of a roll as the other knives.

Give the benchmade Rukus a shot! Or try to find a 1st Gen Spyderco Large Manix. Two beasts, both with s30v and super strong locks. Whatever your cutting needs to watch out!

I just bought a spyderco sage and still looking for a paramilitary, need someone to stop me as well:)

If you want beefy then ZT is the way to go.

You will find that the ZT 0200 will come highly recommended. A much beefier knife than the Vantage Pro.

i've heard good things about the extrema ratio RAO... seems beefy enough.

The ZT0200 is a big hunk of finely machined steel and G-10. If you carry only it in one pocket, its very manageable. But if you put it in the same pocket you'll be digging in for keys, money, etc, ya better have big pockets or tiny hands! Its a beast!

CRK Umnumzaan. A folder that feel as close to a fixed blade that I have ever seen. Feels like a tank without carrying like one. Pricey though.

Cold steel XL Voyager tanto: big, beefy, very strong and lightweight.
Fits in almost all pockets. I have " M " size hand and don't have any problem with using this knife. It can replace many fixed blades and so call " survivals ". Maybe strongest folding knife.

Best way to stop yourself from buying another folder is to buy a fixy-that way youll never have to buy another folder again ;)

The ZT 0200 is impressive even matched up with some of the other monsters in my collection, and it's elegant, as well. :)

Check out the Spyderco Chinook and don't neglect the lightweight but seriously tough Military. Then there's the Ontario Hossom Retributions I and II. Any large Extrema Ratio, like my Nemesis and MPC. Ka-Bar Mule, a real best buy -- it even has the toughest sheath around. Real monsters? Cold Steel's Rajah I and II.

Rukus or ZT 300 series. Both are well made made knives that certainly fit under the beefy category.

That's an active forum for ya! Now, what strategies work to avoid suspicion from the little lady inquiring about all these boxes coming to the house... Esav - your list definitely looks like what I'm trying to avoid! LOL

@ Otis - that RAO looks like a serious donkey puncher fo' sho.

I watched that youtube video with an interview with a zt product manager (IIRC) - and once he said 'use it as a pry bar' (I think regarding the 301)... I was sold! Nary a word regarding about being cautious about placing large hunks of sharp metal in your pocket damaging the business end of your .. well, I'll be polite.

In all seriousness, check out the Ka-Bar Mule. Clip point or tanto. Tough, sharp, and a fraction of the price of the others.

I have been looking at the Ontario XM folders. I Have never held one, but from the quality and workmanship of my RAT-1 -I assume that they are awesome knives.

N690Co steel and weighing in at 6.3 ounces, I would consider it beefy.

Here is a pic and info (scroll down): http://www.ontarioknife.com/asek.html

Assume nothing.

The XM's and the Rat-1 are designed by different people and manufactured in different countries. No connection but being marketed by Ontario.

That is true. I am still looking at them. Do you have any personal info on them, or was that just some good consumer advice?

Just good advice in general. Actually, I would bet on the XM series being pretty tough. I just never had a place for them. Companies like Ontario can be all over the place, though. A bad experience with one line doesn't mean their other knives aren't reliable.

Tha's what I like about BF. We can ask, and most times, someone has that knife and can tell us if it's any good.
