It’s easy, I prefer an acid etch with ferric chloride (pcb etch) then put it on a disposable aluminum tray and slather on some citristrip. Let it sit for an hour and coating will come off pretty easy with a plastic scraper.

Than just sand it until it looks pretty enough for you and put it to work

A search for “stripping” should fill in the details:D

Stripping is not that difficult and there are lots of threads with info on it. The time/skill it will take also depends on what you want it to look like at the end. I started right where you are now, 8 years ago, so don't be afraid to try.

If you just don't want to mess with it, but still want your knife stripped to look nice, I know a guy. This is just the most recent of his many SF TG projects. ;)

Send it to AZTimT you'll be in good hands and won't be disappointed the pictures don't do it justice I got my nmfsh. And game warden back love the job he did

Citristrip.....and then citristrip again.

I bought a can of Jasco as advised by a tuber.

Should I just store it in the garage and get citistrip? A2 INFI or otherwise...

Jasco is the fastest but its also pretty nasty. Citristrip is good but it works best 65 degrees+ so being wintertime you wont get best results out if citristrip if you do it outside in the cold...... but unlike jasco the citristrip can be used indoors.

I actually would, the Jasco stuff that I bought first smelled terrible and burned through thin 5 mil nitrile gloves but did not take the coating off very well. Citristrip took most of the coating off the first time and did not burn or give off crazy fumes.

I stripped a BT6 with it and it took forever. I tried stripping desert shadow camo (311) and finally broke down and got the citristrip halfway through

I use Jasco epoxy and paint stripper too... it works, fast. But yes, it's very nasty... wear eye and skin protection--it's like the acidic blood of those vicious aliens

I sent mine to AzTim :D

I really thought a long time about doing myself, but I wanted an almost factory fresh look. So I shipped them out, cause I didn’t want to experiment on my Busses but that’s me. Please keep us posted on what you decide :-)

Will stripping the blade also remove the logo? I’m about to do my edc knife and I thought I’d ask.

The etch will be down into the metal but faint, these letters on this logo are outlined, not solid block fonts. Just stripping won't remove it but any sanding/polishing if you do that, man it's going to be super faint. I etched mine for hours and it's there, it's not bold but it's there. Another one I've done I didn't etch but the BUSSE is there, it doesn't stand out much at all. A little effort put into etching it will help but I think, with the font style on this particular logo is tougher to work with than some of the others.

Send to Tim. No regrets ever. He will make your knife better than you can imagine and sharp as can be. Price to quality ratio is perfect.

Ok.
I’m sure he does great work but I prefer to do the work myself. I might put a picture up when I’m done. I modified my BG ASH and it turned out pretty good.
