I'm a knife nut. My fav thus far is my PE spyderco salt one. Ive always known serrated was the more efficient edge. But I've never realized to what extent until i was putting a point on a large piece of wood the other day. I started with the spydey, and then out of curiousity, grabbed my leatherman, and pulled out the fully serrated blade. even with the spydie being superiorly sharper. it was still no contest between the two. I can honestly boast that it was twice as easy to carve with the multitool. SO CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A FULLY SERRATED KNIFE WITH A NICER GRIP (PREFERABLE G10)? Im pretty familiar with spydercos, and to my knowledge, theres nothing fully SE with G10 that is slim enough for EDC. The paramilitary might be an exception, but for different reasons, I just don't like it. If I could make my perfect knife, itd have a slim handle almost like a mini fillet knife, that also felt rubberish, and a SE. If anyone has any thoughts of a knife similar to this, or if youd just like to post your fav SE blade, let me know. Thanks

Suppose you could hunt down one of the old FS Benchmade 800 knives.

It has the 800 grip with a fully serrated ATS-34 blade, liner lock, G10, and mildly rare.

Or, maybe, one of the older SOG knives.

There are some Spyderco Police models in G-10 still floating around, but they're hard (for me at least) to find. Anyone got any links?

yeah. the police and or the 800 would be great. theyre both exactly what im thinking of. i cant believe this type of exact knife is such a rareity. theres a police on ebay for 110. id hate to think im paying for the collectableness of it, being that itll be an edc. but thanks for the quick responses.

Have you not seen the Military?

just browsing ebay, this caught my eye - http://cgi.ebay.com/Emerson-Travele...6QQihZ018QQcategoryZ43335QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
any opinions on the company emerson would also be greatly appreciated. thanks

Emerson, run by Ernest Emerson, is one of the top production knife companies.
His best known knives are USA made.

The one you linked to is from a line he started manufacturing a couple of years ago in Japan. Good quality for what it is, but the AUS-8 steel - while it can be made extremely sharp - is not of the edge holding quality of the Spyderco VG-10 steel. Which can also sharpen up just as well if not better as AUS-8.

I'd look at the Endura fully serrated if I were you.

Spyderco military for a long blade and the Spyderco para-military for a medium sized blade. I've done "slice testing" with these knives against several plain edged knives. The material used was an old thick phone book. The Spyderco's (especially the big military) out-sliced the plain style blades by 4:1 or more. Plus, the Spyderco serrations are easy to sharpen and one only needs to sharpen them about 1/4 the number of times of a plain edge.

The tests I performed showed me that a fully serrated edge (in a style like Spyderco's) can produce an extremely deadly SD weapon.

yeah. im slightly frustrated. i just think its lacking on spyderco's part that you cant buy a knife smaller than a paramilitary with G10 and a SE. I just dont understand why CEs are so popular; but for example, the cara cara would be my pick if i could get it in a SE.

okay, and probably not just spyderco. im sure benchmade and others are enormously partial to only PEs and CEs. Why?. I don't know.

This may not fit the entire description, but you might be intereted. Have you considered a Leatherman Multitool? Something like the Wave or the Charge Ti. Different handle material, option of fully serrated AND plain edge blades, less likely to scare people (sheeple friendly). Problems are that it's not G-10 and it may not feel slim enough for you.

haha. yeah. i actually talked about it in the initial post. the wave is what made me realize how bad i want a serrated blade. and yeah its just too big. 5 oz is probably the ideal weight for me. nothing over 8 for carrying all the time.

Hey, there just aren't that many options for a fully serrated blade.

I don't know why, but it's so.

I personally like the Endura 3 serrated, I carry one pretty much every day.
But from your description it's not what you're looking for, and they're OOP anyhow. I also like the Delica 3 serrated, I have a few of those too.

I'm glad that at least one company (Spyderco) does give us the fully serrated option in several of its models. No other company seems willing to do so other than CS.

How about the serrated Spyderco Native? Given the very small plain edge portion at the tip, it is practically all serrated, and a great little knife.

Call me strange but i just can't buy another knife exactly like my own with just a different type blade. a natives a good idea. i'm just sorta dissapointed that theres no reasonable option with G10 that i've found thus far.
